PURPOSE:To increase the ability to recognize and judge a failured part in a squib line system diagnostic device in an air bag system of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A squib line system diagnostic device is provided with a first diagnostic resistance R1 where one end is connected to the terminal D+ of the squib, a first diagnostic switching means Q1 where the other end of R1 is connected to an ignition power source VDC, a second diagnostic resistance R3 where one end is connected to the terminal D+ of the squib, a second diagnostic switching means Q2 where the other end of R3 is grounded, and a CPU 5. The CPU 5 appropriately switches on/off the first and second diagnostic switching means Q1, Q2, measures the voltage of the squib VD+ and VD-, and calculates the values of various prescribed diagnostic parameters based on the VDC value, and the VD+ and VD- values. The values of the diagnostic parameters are compared with various prescribed judgement thresholds to judge the failured part.
