OIL FOR POLYURETHANE ELASTOMER FIBER

PURPOSE:To obtain the oil composed of an aqueous solution of a specific water- soluble polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkylene oxide adduct and useful for applying in the production of a polyurethane elastomer fiber without causing the swelling of the fiber and the generation of dyeing speck. CONSTITUTION:This oil is an aqueous solution containing, as an essential component, a water-soluble compound consisting of a watersoluble polyhydric alcohol expressed by formula RE[-O-(AO)m-H]n. (R is a residue of a 2-10C polyhydric alcohol having >=2 hydroxyl groups; AO is a 2-4C alkylene oxide; (m) is 0-100; (n) is 2-6) and/or its alkylene oxide adduct and having a total molecular weight of the total oxyalkylene chain part of <=600. The solution is preferably applied to a polyurethane elastomer fiber with a roller before winding the fiber on a bobbin to reduce the swelling of the fiber in spinning and the generation of oil-spot in dyeing.
