PURPOSE:To provide a small, easy-to-assemble in-pipe runner by mounting a driving motor, a speed reducing gear and a driving wheel on the respective portions of the surface of a beam, and making the axis of a column shaft roughly coincide with the axis of a line, and making the horizontal axis of the driving wheel pass the center of the column shaft. CONSTITUTION:Prior to insertion of an in-pipe runner into a line 1, the radius from the outermost periphery of a driving wheel 8 to the axis of a column shaft 2 is greater than the radius of the line 1 so that an appropriate contact pressure can be obtained. The driving wheel 8 is disposed so that its horizontal axis passes the axis of the column shaft 2, i.e., the axis of the line 1, and that it is perpendicular to and in contact with the inner surface of the line 1. When a voltage is applied to a driving motor 6 from a power source, the torque generated is transmitted to the inner surface of the line 1 from the driving wheel 8 via a speed reduction mechanism, so that the runner travels. When the inner surface of the line 1 has projecting and recessed portions, the driving wheel 8 tends to move outside of the line 1 at the recessed portion. |
