PURPOSE:To obtain the subject foam useful as a heat insulating material, etc., having improved brittleness without damaging flame-retardancy and a heat transfer coefficient, free from cracks by expanding a resin composition containing a melamine formaldehyde condensate, a blowing agent and an isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:This melamine-based resin foam having solved a problem of brittleness is safely obtained by mixing (A) a melamine formaldehyde condensate obtained by reacting melamine with formaldehyde in the presence of 0.5-15 pts.wt. of a silane coupling agent (e.g. gamma-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane) based on 100 pts.wt. of the melamine formaldehyde condensate with (B) a blowing agent (e.g. pentane) and (C) an isocyanate (e.g. polymeric-4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate) to give a resin composition, packing the resin composition into a mold, expanding in an oven at 100 deg.C without damaging flame retardancy and a heat transfer coefficient. |
