A switch cupboard has a rack made of frame pieces whose outer sides may be closed with wall elements and at least one cupboard door. The wall elements and the cupboard door are joined to a vertical frame piece and may be releasably fixed to an adjacent vertical frame piece by means of closure elements. The vertical frame pieces are designed as open or closed hollow sections. In order to reduce the number of parts and the mounting work required for securing a cupboard door to a vertical frame piece, the frame piece takes over the function of the closure elements complementary to the closure elements of the cupboard door by means of receiving grooves, holding strips, shoulders or recesses.
