A device is claimed for the sliding stoppers of molten metal casting ladles, partic. for steel, which incorporates one or more refractory security elements juxtaposed with one or more of the plates of the sliding stopper to ensure the sealing of the device during closing. The objective of these security elements is to ensure that when infiltration of molten metal is detected a security plate (6) is rapidly brought into place providing a new plate that immediately re-establishes the sealing and arrests the infiltration.
