PURPOSE:To provide the individual identification device for birds by which an individual bird is identified surely and instantaneously. CONSTITUTION:When a bird 1 returns to a bird box 3 and sits on a perch 4, an interrogator 5 and a responder 10 provided to a leg ring 2 approaches with each other and an electromagnetic from the interrogator 5 reaches the responder 10. The electromagnetic wave includes an interrogation signal to obtain a reply from the responder 10. When a control section 12 detects the interrogation signal from the electromagnetic wave received by an antenna section 11, the control section 12 generates a response signal including the response identification signal corresponding to the identification number of the bird 1 and outputs it to the antenna section 11. Furthermore, the interrogation device 5 receiving an electromagnetic wave including the responding signal outputs the response identification signal in the response signal to a data processing unit 6. The data processing unit 6 collates the identification number represented by the response identification signal with data stored in advance to identify the bird 1. |
