PURPOSE:To provide a data transmission system where a simple node constitution is used to realize a high-speed LAN. CONSTITUTION:When a packet is transmitted from a node N1 to a node N3, the packet having destination information where number $0' of the external output port is set to an area corresponding to the destination node N3 and number '1' of the external input port is set to areas corresponding to non- destination nodes An 1 and N2 is inputted from an external input port 1 of the node N1. Thereafter, non-destination nodes N1 and N2 input, the packet to an input port 1 of the destination node N3 through respective input ports 1 and output ports 1 based on set value '1' of destination information, and the destination node N3 sends the packet from an external output port 0 to the outside based on set value '0' of destination information, thus transmitting the packet to the objective node N3. If the objective node N3 cannot output it to the outside, the output packet from its output port 1 is abandoned without being inputted to the node N1 by a released transmission line.
