The process is by applying a Nylon 11-type polyamide such as Rilprim (RTM), fixing it by heat and then applying a thermoplastic resin of the required colour, such as Rilsan (RTM). Before the colouring process the instrument is first de-greased in a solvent such as trichlorethylene for 15 min. and treated with corundum. The areas not to be coloured are covered with a fluorocarbon resin-based strip such as Teflon (RTM), before dipping in the polyamide product, dried in air and basked at 270 deg C for 15-25 min., then dipped again in the colouring plastic and baked again for 5-10 min. before removing the Teflon (RTM) strip. |
