An internal combustion engine has several electronically controlled (46) injectors (34). Each injector enters close to a mixture chamber, with air entry controlled by a butterfly valve (10), in a body (8). This valve is also actuated by the electronic controller, relative to the drivers operating pedal. The valve actuator returns it to an engine close down position, in case of control failure. An additional air entry pipe (18) enters upstream of the valve, its air flow regulated by an electro valve (20), controlled also by the electronic controller. The electro valve opens completely, in the event of control failure. The injectors may be of the type with air loss not limited sonically by the fuel spray holes, with a maximum of about 5 kg/h. |
