<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an excessive manual operation by providing plural optical scanning units which radiate the light beams to a space where an item having an indicator is moving and receive the light beams reflected on the indicator to transmit the signals corresponding to the light intensity and then by receiving and processing those transmitted signals to extract the information shown by the indicator. CONSTITUTION:A tunnel scanner 10 effectively defines a three-dimensional scanning space 100 contiguous to four side faces, and an object is carried through the space 100. The scanning heads 15 placed opposite to an upper face, a side face and a bottom face front on the space 100 and scan at least four orthogonal scanning faces. Then the scanner 10 scans the item that is passing through a conveyor belt system 20. Furthermore the scanner 10 is provided with an inverted U-shaped support bracket and consists of two vertical parts 11a and 11c and a horizontal part 11b. These parts 11a, 11b and 11c support the scanning heads 15r, 14t and 15 respectively.</p> |
