The catenary support has an electrically insulating arm (34) attached at its inner end (35) to a structure (15) on the tunnel wall. The outer end (36) is attached to a telescopic arm (74,75). The outer end of the telescopic arm carries the catenary suspension (13). The insulating arm is angled upward, and the telescopic arm is approximately horizontal, roughly following the roof (2) of the tunnel. The joints have a mechanism to set and maintain the arms at the correct angle. The electrical insulator is flexible and is made of an elastic synthetic material. The outer arm is also of a flexible material. The catenary suspension is pivoted from the end of the telescopic arm.
