PURPOSE:To attain moving picture index detection processing at a video rate even by software processing and to detect index information at high detection accuracy and a low cost even in the case of using various moving picture materials. CONSTITUTION:Compressed picture data 2 compressed by picture compression processing including DCT operation are extracted from a picture storing part 1 and inputted to a moving picture index featured value signal extracting part 3, which restores a quantized DCT coefficient signal from code information by Huffman decoding processing, restores a DCT coefficient signal by inverse quantization processing and outputs a moving picture index featured value signal 4. The signal 4 is inputted to a moving picture index detecting part 5 and a moving picture index signal 6 is detected from the signal 4. |
