PURPOSE:To obtain a color liquid crystal display device having high quality and high reliability without forming uneven space between substrates. CONSTITUTION:The one member is produced by the following process. Light- shielding org. films 21, 19 are formed all over the light shielding area 20 of a transparent substrate 17 by coating while in a display area 18 of the transparent substrate 17 so that the org. film has apertures corresponding to each picture element. A color filter for the first picture element is applied and etched so that a part of the filter remains in the aperture for the first picture element. Then, a color filter for the second picture element is formed by coating on both the display area 18 and the light-shielding area 20 under conditions to form a thinner film in the area except for the picture element compared to the coating conditions of the color filter for the first picture element. The color filter for the second picture element is etched in such a manner that a part of the filter remains on the light-shielding film 21 of the light-shielding area 20 and on the aperture for the second picture element. |
