LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To easily form a display medium by photoradiation from the counter substrate side even if the counter substrate has color filters and black mask. CONSTITUTION:The color filters 6 having optical parts which shield light of a wavelength of <390nm to at least <=50% and allow at least >=20% of light of a wavelength having the max. value of light transmittance in a wavelength region exceeding a wavelength 400nm to transmit in each of respective picture element, are formed on the transparent counter substrate 2 side. The black mask 7 which partly has light transmissive parts 7a shields the light by covering the parts exclusive of the picture elements is formed. The light. therefore, arrive at a mixture for the display medium by mainly passing the light transmissive parts 7a of the black mask 7 covering the parts exclusive of the picture elements if this mixture is previously inserted between a pair of the substrates 1 and 2 and is irradiated with the light of the wavelength below 390nm from the counter substrate 2 side.
