The invention relates to a biodegradable fibre product which is formed from the following constituents: constituent A: one or more (poly)hydroxy(poly)carboxylic acids in an amount of from 10-90 to 90-10 wt%, based on the total of constituents A and B; constituent B: one or more poly(vinyl alcohols) in an amount of from 10-90 to 90-10 wt%, based on the total of constituents A and B; constituent C: an aldehyde or ketone in an amount of 0.1- 5 wt%, based on the total of the components A, B and C and possibly one or more fire retardants. Constituents A is preferably lactic acid, glycolic acid or mandelic acid, (amygdalic acid), constituent C is preferably acetone or formaldehyde. The invention further relates to a method for preparing said fibre product and products formed from said fibre product. |
