PURPOSE:To provide a remote controller capable of using an existing display part without newly providing a display part, lowering a cost, making the display of the display part simple and with improved visibility and accurately grasping residual battery capacity. CONSTITUTION:This remote controller is provided with the display part 10 composed of a liquid crystal display element for instance for displaying information relating to the operation of an air conditioner, is used for the remote control of the air conditioner and is provided with a battery 12 used as the power source of the remote controller, a battery detection circuit part (equivalent to a battery residual capacity detection means) 14 for detecting and monitoring the residual capacity of the battery 12 and a residual battery capacity display part 16 for applying a part of the display function of the display part 10 and displaying the detected residual capacity of the battery.
