PURPOSE:To inject an electrolyte in a short time without using a decompressor, a compressor, and a centrifugal separator in the injection process of battery assembly by making a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate of a spiral electrode body thinner in thickness at end sections in the direction perpendicular to the winding direction than at the center section. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode plate 2 and a negative electrode plate 3 are laminated via a separator and wound into a spiral shape in a spiral electrode body 1, and the positive electrode plate 2 and/or negative electrode plate 3 is made thinner in thickness at least at one end section in the direction perpendicular to the winding direction than at the center section. The spacing between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate 3 of the spiral electrode body 1 is made larger at the end section than the spacing between them at the center section. Even when the electrode plates 2, 3 are tightly wound and separator 4 is compressed at the center section, the separator 4 is not compressed at the side section, thus an electrolyte easily infiltrates into the spiral electrode body 1 through the gap between the positive electrode plate 2 and the negative electrode plate 3 at The side section, and the electrolyte can be injected in a short time. |
