PURPOSE:To realize a map display device automatically displaying a detailed map in the vicinity of a crossing and a junction at a spot of a prescribed distance ahead of the crossing and the junction. CONSTITUTION:A display control means 6 detects the crossing or the junction from map information according to the positional information on movement, etc., obtained from a position detection means 3, and when the crossing or the junction is detected in the map information, revises a reduced scale of a display map displayed on a display means 7 according to the positional information on a traveling object obtained by the position detection means 3 and the position information on the crossing or the junction. Thus, since the user unnecessitates to switch a display mode by himself even when coming on the vicinity of the crossing or the junction, the burden of the user is reduced remarkably. |
