The pump piston (or membrane) (12) is operated by an electromagnet (21), with one part fixed to the chassis (1). The chassis also contains the pump chamber (11). The moving plunger of the electromagnet (2) armature (3) is extended by a shaft (5), transmitting force to the piston, by an independent stop (13). The piston modifies the chamber volume, reducing it for discharge, via output channel (8). Reverse movement of the plunger, by spring (6) return, withdraws the piston for loading via a channel (9) and valve (10). The return coil spring is retained in rebates in the plunger and piston stop. Plunger movement converts the electromagnetic energy progressively to elastic, in the spring. Plunger rebound onto the rear stop is reduced by external braking, e.g. viscous damping.
