PURPOSE: To obtain an antenna for portable device which is constituted so that the influence of the body of the user of the device on the antenna function of the antenna may be reduced. CONSTITUTION: An additional member 10 is connected to the grounding surface system of an antenna 1 through the sleeve 6 of the outside input terminal 4 of a case 2. The member 10 is tuned so that the member 10 may operate as a quarter wavelength in the upper-limit zone of a desired operating frequency range. In addition, the remaining grounding surface system is tuned to a frequency in the lower-limit zone of an intended operating frequency range. Therefore, the interference from the surrounding environment of the antenna of a portable telephone set is reduced and the portable telephone set is operated within a wide bandwidth.
