<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in quality of a reproduced picture, which is caused by transmission error at the time of applying the picture communication system of digital transmission to a radio line having a bad line quality, and the degradation which is caused by an influence of error propagation upon picture data following the block where transmission error exists. CONSTITUTION:The transmission side is provided with a picture data divider 1 to divide the input picture data into prescribed picture element blocks, and picture element units of picture data to be encoded by an information source code encoder 2 and an error correction code encoder 3 are made coincide with each other. On the reception side, error correction code decoding and information source code decoding are performed in block units by decoders 7 and 8; and if transmission error is detected, data of the block where the error is detected and data of another block to which the error is propagated are corrected with data of adjacent blocks by a corrector 9 to output the reproduced picture data.</p> |
