PURPOSE:To increase the density of a negative electrode plate while suppressing the generation of blisters by making the infiltrating speed of a cadmium paste negative electrode plate slower than the infiltrating speed of an alkaline aqueous solution into the negative electrode plate by the capillary phenomenon. CONSTITUTION:A cadmium paste negative electrode plate 3 coated with a paste containing a cadmium mixture as an active material 2 on both faces of a conductive core body 1 is immersed in an alkaline aqueous solution 4, and the hydration process is applied while the infiltrating speed of the negative electrode plate 3 is controlled slower than the infiltrating speed of the alkaline aqueous solution into the negative electrode plate 3 by the capillary phenomenon. |
