A drive mechanism suitable for powered opening and closing of a gate allows for manual operation of the gate. The drive mechanism comprises a motor and a central shaft (6) carrying a driven plate (10) and pressure plates (9, 11) which form a clutch. The output end of the central shaft (6) is connected to a gate connection member (16). In normal operation the clutch transfers power from the motor to the output of the mechanism for operating the gate. When the gate is operated manually, the clutch slips. The pressure plates (9, 11) and driven plate (10) are urged together by screw adjustment means (13) in a bore in central shaft (6), alternative to springs. Adjustment of the clutch is possible from the exterior of the drive mechanism housing. <IMAGE> |
