The static or mobile stand may be used when installing lighting elements in a building. It consists of a portal frame with two columns (13) standing on elongated feet. The tops of the column are connected by a U-section crossbeam, which may hold a strip-light. The columns are of profile cross-section, with eight undercut grooves (14) which can accommodate projections on mounting fittings for the feet or head fittings (1) which hold the crossbeams. Each head has eight large undercut grooves (4) which may accommodate a projection on the end of the U-section crossbeam. The columns and the heads are of generally symmetrical octagonal cross-section with the grooves in the middle of the flat sides.
