Electric field-assisted carbon soot deposition

A process for coating of surfaces with carbon in which the carbon is produced by combustion of a carbon-contg. fuel gas and the burner is directed at the surface to be coated is novel in that an electric field (3) is produced in the area between the burner (1) producing the carbon (5) and the surface (2) to be coated. Also claimed is a process for coating of electrically conducting surfaces with carbon as in the above claim which is novel in that one pole of a voltage source (4) producing the electric field is connected to the electrically conducting surface (2).
