A castor comprises two wheels 14 rotatedly mounted relative to a body 12 by a spindle 20 which is mounted in a passage 24 of the body. The passage allows upward and downward movement of the body relative to the spindle and the arrangement is such that mounting of the spindle to the passage and mounting of the wheels to the spindle when the spindle is mounted in the passage preloads a biasing spring 32 to provide a predetermined biasing force biasing the body upwardly relative to the spindle such that brake surfaces 38 of the body engage corresponding surfaces 40 of the wheels to brake the latter in the absence of a downward load of a predetermined amount being applied to the body. <IMAGE>
