The prodn. of gloss pigment-contg. coating powders (I) comprises bonding a mixt. contg. a coating powder component (A) and a gloss pigment component (B) in the loading chamber (1) of a mixer which is fitted with at least one mixing element (2) and opt. with a thermosetting system (6), and constructed so that the mixt. does not come into contact with the bushing (4) of the stirrer drive shaft (3). Also claimed is a process for improving the free flowing quality of coating powders by mixing the powder in a system as described above. Also claimed are gloss pigment-contg. coating powders (I) and coating powders with improved free flowing properties (II), obtd. by these processes. The bonding between (A) and (B) is carried out at 0-50 deg C with a circumferential stirrer speed of 1-50 m/sec.
