Electro-thermal printer control

The electrothermal resistive printing process involves transferring ink particles onto a surface from a type by localised heating. The print head has single electrodes (44-47) that are in contact with the resistance tape (43) and are selectively energised to meet the print data requirements. A number of electrodes (50) not used in the printing process monitor the current and indicate any facility contact with the tape and provide an input to the controller.
