Starting and driving device for gas-discharge lamps

The starting device comprises an AC current source (1,2) a bridge rectifier (3-7), a switched current of voltage stabiliser (10-12) and a voltage multiplier circuit (13-20). Diodes (8,9) separate high starting voltages from the current of voltage stabiliser and firing current supply components (3-7, 10,11), which are then dimensioned according to running current needs only. Time constants are selected for network frequency, load capacitor (7), stabiliser and gas discharge lamps (21,22) so that the lamps do not extinguish throughout the whole running voltage range. Electrical connections outside the starting device carry no high frequency voltages.
