PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance, by reacting a bis(2-cyanoethyl or cyanoisopropyl)ether readily obtained by adding water to acrylonitrile with ethanolamine in the presence of a metallic salt and then reacting the reaction product in the presence of a strong alkali under heating. CONSTITUTION:Bis(2-cyanoethyl)ether or bis(2-cyano-isopropyl)ether readily obtained by adding water to acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile as a starting raw material is reacted with ethanolamine in the presence of a metallic salt [e.g. ZnCl2, Cd(CH3CO2)2, etc.] and then the reaction product is reacted in the presence of a strong alkali (most preferably NaOH) at >=150 deg.C (especially 150-200 deg.C) under heating to give a 2-alkenyl-2-oxazoline (e.g. 2-isopropenyl- oxazoline, etc.). USE:A monomer for polymerization or copolymerization or an intermediate for various syntheses. |
