The bearing rail has webs (29) consisting of folds in the sheet. The open side of the fold can be welded for greater stability. All the folds can be made in the sheet before the final bending of the sheet in U-form to bring the two flanges parallel to each other. The rail can be made from one sheet or from a number of shaped rods. The baseplate (26) may be produced from a channel bar.
