The system has a main control built into the door that transmits a low frequency radio signal that is received by a unit (20) built into a card carried by the user. The receiver provides an input to a converter (200) on the card. This provides an activation for a transmitter to allow the card to output a signal received by the door based unit. This signal is processed and identified to allow the lock to be operated.
