PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition for suppressing the propagation and restenosis of a smooth muscle in human or in other mammalian animals. CONSTITUTION: This medicinal composition contains a compound of formula I or II [R1 , R3 are each H, CH2 , a CO (1-6C alkyl), CO-Ar (Ar is a phenyl substituted as desired); R2 is formula III-formula V; R4 is H or OR1 ], their pharmaceutically permissible salts or solvates. The composition is used for the preventive treatment, maintenance for a suppressed state and/or treatment of the propagation and restenosis of a smooth muscle. The compound is obtained by starting from a benzo[b]thiophene having 6-hydroxy group and 2-(4- hydroxyphenyl) group, blocking the starting compound, alkylating and deblocking. |
