PURPOSE:To provide a marine propulsion device by which sufficient propulsion can be generated even at backward movement time by rotating two propellers in the mutually inverse direction by replacing a part such as an outboard motor in which a counter-rotating system is not adopted. CONSTITUTION:In a marine propulsion device 1 to drive propellers 3 and 2, which are fixed to respective ones of an inner shaft 5 and an outer shaft 6 to form an inner and outer double shaft structure, in rotation in the mutually inverse direction, a first input shaft 20 to transmit motive power of an engine and a second input shaft 21 which is arranged in parallel and whose both ends are pivoted in a lower case 4, are connected to each other with gears 25 and 26 arranged in the lower case 4. At the same time, horizontal bevel gears 23 and 24 are fixed to the respective lower ends of the input shafts 20 and 21, and a pair of vertical bevel gears 11 and 12 rotatably arranged on the respective ones of the inner shaft 5 and the outer shaft 6 and first and second sliders 15 and 16 to be respectively meshed with an to be locked on and released from a vertical bevel gear 14 are engaged respectively with each other. |
