PURPOSE: To obtain a medicinal composition effective for the treatment of diseases related to the automatism and/or tension of an altered smooth muscle observed in the intestine, trachea and urinary bladder. CONSTITUTION: This medicinal composition consists of a compound of formula I Y is a direct bond, CH2 , (CH2 )2 , CH2 O or CH2 S; R is CN or CONH2 ; R1 is formula II, formula III or Het [X<1> , X are each O or CH2 ; (m) is 1-3; Het is pyridyl, pyradinyl or thienyl]) or pharmaceutically permissible salt thereof, e.g. 3-(R, S)-(1-carbamoyl-1,1-diphenylmethyl)-1-1-[2-(2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-5-yl) ethyl]pyrrolidine, and a pharmaceutically permissible diluent or carrier. The compound of the formula I is selective to the muscarinic sites of smooth muscles than to those of heart, and is an antagonist for a muscarinic receptor having not any of significant antihistamine activities. The medicinal composition is effective for the treatment of a hypersensitive intestinal syndrome and an incontinence of urine. |
