<p>PURPOSE: To provide a friction material being elastic and resistant to compressive effects, abrasion and stress, having high heat resistance, radiating heat quickly, having long-lasting, stable and consistent friction performance over a long period, and having good shear strength and high porosity so as to be useful in wet applications. CONSTITUTION: The invention relates to a fibrous base material comprising less fibrillated aramid fibers, synthetic graphite and at least one filler material, and a non-asbestos friction material produced therefrom. In certain embodiments, the fibrous base material is impregnated with, e.g. a phenolic resin, a modified phenolic resin, or a mixture of a phenolic resin and a silicone resin.</p> |
