Up to now, the extent to which a link chain, e.g. for a yacht anchor, has been payed out has been determined by measuring revolutions on a chain wheel. According to the invention, the chain passes through a sensor which uses a high-frequency electrical field to detect the individual links and sends corresponding counting pulses to an evaluation device which converts the counting pulses into a linear measure. This provides, for example, a simple way of running an anchor chain to a precise depth and afterward hauling it in again. |
