PURPOSE:To prolong the life of rails by positioning the centroid position of an arm mounted at a processing head on the rail parts disposed in the first axial direction of a laser oscillator. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 4 outputted from a laser oscillator 16 is reflected by bend mirrors 17a to 17e and is condensed by a processing head 5 installed in the lower part of a Z-axis unit 21. A work piece 6 is irradiated with the condensed light. The Z-axis unit 21 is moved in the Y-axis direction and the Y-arm 18 is moved in the X-axis direction and then, the laser processing head 5 is moved in an arbitrary direction on an X-Y plane and the work piece 6 is subjected to laser beam processing to an arbitrary shape. The Y-arm 18 is formed by making its front end fine and thin in thickness and is so composed that the gravity position of the Y-arm 18 exists between the X-axis rails 24a and 24b regardless of the position where a Z-axis unit 21 exits. As a result, the degradation in processing accuracy by vibration at the time of movement is prevented. |
