<p>PURPOSE: To provide a coupling being relatively small in diameter and light in weight, having an excellent magnetic characteristic, and capable of withstanding heavy loads. CONSTITUTION: This coupling disc 20 (e.g. the armature or rotor) of an electromagnetic coupling such as a clutch or brake is formed with a plurality of concentric rows of specially shaped slots 31 which are filled with high magnetic reluctance brazing material 35 in order to structurally strengthen the disc and reduce the tendency of the disc to deflect and bend under high loads. Optionally, an annuls 30 made of the brazing material may interconnect rings 35 and may support the non-working face 24 of the coupling disc 20 to further strengthen the coupling disc 20.</p> |
