<p>PURPOSE:To enable measurement of the internal pressure of blood vessels and the blood flow rate as well as detection of micro-bubbles of carbon dioxide, etc., in blood by providing a main body of a catheter with a pressure sensor section and an ultrasonic sensor section, arranged in this order from the tip of the catheter. CONSTITUTION:This catheter 1 of 6-10 Fr in diameter comprises a main body 2 in a tubular shape, made of a synthetic resin, e.g. polyurethane, PVC, silicone, etc., and other sections such as a pressure sensing section 3, a balloon section 4, an ultrasonic sensing section 5 and a chemical grouting section 6 (blood collection section), arranged in this order from the tip of the catheter. The pressure sensing section 3 is of semiconductor type or strain gauge type construction, capable of sensing pressure ranging from -50 to +300mmHg. The ultrasonic sensing section 5 incorporates a ceramic base device, capable of detecting bubbles in blood by the ultrasonic Doppler effect and ultrasonic propagation methods. The catheter of aforesaid constitution can detect simultaneously the internal pressure of blood vessels, blood flow rate and bubbles in blood.</p> |
