<p>PURPOSE: To achieve the simplification of printing operation by employing a drum of which the circumferential length is less than the length of recording paper and using a ribbon containing a colorless transparent part having length corresponding to the difference between the lengths of them in a boundary surface of respective hues. CONSTITUTION: After the leading end of recording paper 13 is transferred to a position exceeding the difference (d) between the circumferential length of a drum 14 and the length of the recording paper 13 from an initial printing position 18, the drum 14 is stopped. Next, for example, a ribbon 11 is moved so that an yellow hue is positioned at an initial printing position and a recording head 12 is allowed to fall to perform printing. After the drum 14 is allowed to make one revolution to perform printing by an yellow hue, the recording head 12 is continuously held to the state pressing the ribbon 11. At this time, the transparent part between yellow and magenta hues corresponds to a part where the leading end and rear end of the recording paper 13 are overlapped by one revolution of the drum 14.
