PURPOSE:To obtain the molding without detriment to the flame retardance of a phenol resin while dispensing with complicated, dangerous, and inefficient steps, such as the step of drying a dispersion medium or a solvent, by inserting the step of squeezing and removing an absorbed excess resin from a continuous reinforcing fiber at the entrance of a molding passage. CONSTITUTION:A phenol resin dispersion (a) is prepd. by dispersing a phenol resin powder having an m.p. of 100 deg.C or lower in a liq. unsatd. polyester resin which hardenes at above 100 deg.C. Dispersion a is impregnated into continuous reinforcing fibers (F and f) in an impregnation vessel 3. The fibers are then heated (5 and 6) to a temp. equal to or higher than the m.p. of the phenol resin and lower than the hardening point of the polyester resin and pulled into a molding die 7 equipped with a molding passage 10 having a specified section. On entering the die 7, the fibers are squeezed by the contact with the entry port 10 b of the passage 10 to remove the excess polyester resin. While being pulled out of the die 7, the fibers are heated in the die 7 to a temp. higher than the curing temps. of both the impregnated resins to cure them. |
