PURPOSE:To remove efficiently nitrogen oxides from combustion gas containing oxygen in the theoretical amount of a reaction by using an exhaust gas cleaning material comprising the first catalyst and the second catalyst of copper, etc., which are specified respectively and adding a reductant to exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas cleaning material comprises the first catalyst in which (a) silver or silver oxide 0.2-15wt.% based on a porous inorganic oxide and (b) at least one kind of element selected from a group consisting Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Ir, and Au 0.1wt.% or less based on the inorganic oxide are supported with the porous inorganic oxide and the second catalyst in which (c) copper or copper oxide 0.5-20wt.% based on the inorganic oxide or (c) and (d) at least one kind of element selected from a group consisting of alkali metal elements and rare earth metal elements 10wt.% based on the inorganic oxide are supported with the porous inorganic oxide. The exhaust gas cleaning material is placed in an exhaust gas introduction pipe, and exhaust gas to which hydrocarbon is added as a reductant upstream from the cleaning material is contacted with the exhaust gas cleaning material at 200-600 deg.C. |
