<p>PURPOSE: To provide a putter head and a putter having a front face improved not to cause excessive lift, back spin and skid by providing a backward inlined, that is, loft formed narrow ball hitting surface. CONSTITUTION: A front driving face formed on a putter head of a putter is provided with a flat ball hitting surface 32 in which corners are formed from the vertical surface backward and upward. The ball hitting surface 32 is provided with a substantially horizontal lower edge 34 projected in front of substantially all parts of the putter head. The lower edge 34 is arranged at a vertical distance 10 mm 20 mm from the horizontal lower face 22 in a range which is smaller than the radius of a target golf ball and larger than the half of the radius.
