<p>PURPOSE:To perform thermal printing operation in low running cost by providing an ink bonding means and a transfer drum for transferring the hot-melt ink bonded to the surface of a switch drum to recording paper. CONSTITUTION:Predetermined voltage V is applied across the transparent electrode 3 and first electrode 6 of an optical switch drum 1 having hot melt ink 21 bonded to the surface thereof in an ink tank 24 from a power supply 9. At the same time, a light signal based on a printing signal is selectively applied to the photosensitive layer 4 of the optical switch drum 1 from a light supply imeans 11. At this time, only in the region irradiated with light of the photosensitive layer 4, a current flows to the photosensitive layer 4 and heating resistor layer 5 interposed between the transparent electrode and first electrodes 3, 6 to locally melt the hot-melt ink 21 on the surface of the optical switch drum 1 by generated heat. The surface of the optical switch drum 1 having the molten hot-melt ink 21 bonded thereto is brought into contact with a transfer drum 41 to locally transfer the hot-melt ink 21 to the transfer drum 21 and this transfer drum 21 is brought into contact with the recording paper 31 fed by the rotation of a platen 30.</p> |
