The underwater camera equipment includes a sealed container (1) and a cradle (2) provided to support it. The cradle also supports for the drive mechanism (31,32,4) necessary to propel the container and basket through the water. The cradle supports lights to illuminate the area being examined by the camera. The container may be sepd. from the basket, so that the camera in its casing may be used independently by a diver as well as in its complete assembly. The basket supports two motors (31) to drive the equipment forwards and backwards, and two further motors (32) for lifting or submerging the appts.
