A flexible gas permeable material comprises (a) a substrate and (b) a coating which is the reaction prod. of: (i) an ester of a 4-24C perfluoroalkyl alcohol and a polybasic OH-contg. 2-6C carboxylic acid; and (ii) a resin selected from MF, VF and glycol modified formaldehyde resins. Substrate (a) has passageways through it, and part of the interior of the passageways is coated with (b). Pref. the material is microporous expanded PTFE membrane sheet. Pref. (ii) is MF or VF resin. The ester is an ester of citric acid and of both a perfluoroalkyl alcohol and a perfluoroalkyl epoxide, or the acid is selected from malic and tartaric acids. The perfluorinated alcohol is a mixt. of F(CF2)n(CH2)2OH (n = 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14). |
