The support device comprises a frame (1) which is destined to be laid on the ground. Two aligned support elements (10) are mounted on the frame of the device. The two support elements (10) are destined to receive pieces of wood (9) that are piled one on top of the other. The support elements (10) may be connected to the frame (1) in a removable manner by the introduction of a fixing device (20) and the support elements may be in the form of "U" shaped baskets.
