Run-length-limited code converter from 8-bit to 12-bit words

The method and circuitry for encoding a non-ordered sequence of source data words in a sequence of channel code words in which the run length limits is (2,8)-symbols and the code rate is 8/12. The source data words are used to address memory devices (12,13) in which multiple code-conversion tables are stored, to convert the 8-bit code to 12-bit wide channel words. The table selection is made on the level of input parameters, the level of the previous coded channel word and the next source data word.
